DANIELA YURRITA

SOPRANO

HOME: Welcome

Hello and welcome to my website!!!

In this little corner of the internet, I'd like to share my story with you!

I've always had a deep love and passion for music and have always dreamt of planting seeds of beauty to make a positive impact wherever I am. Music is the universal language that reminds us that we all have something in common, no matter how different we may seem. And music is the language in which I communicate best.

So THANK YOU for being here taking part on my musical journey!

ABOUT

Gifted with a warm and silky color of highly expressive qualities and a strong stage presence, Guatemalan-born soprano Daniela Yurrita has been described as "Exceptionally luminous" (Die Rheinpfalz.)

In 2021, she was appointed Cultural Ambassador of Guatemala abroad by the Guatemalan government.

Summer of 2022 she debuted the role of Micaëla in the Ettlingen Schlossfestspiele's production of Bizet's Carmen.

Ms. Yurrita showed a great passion for music since a very young age. In her homeland, Guatemala, she forged her talent at Dr. Angelica Rosa's Performing arts Academy, for 9 years, where she was able to explore a vast array of vocal genres, as well as theater, dance, songwriting, piano and guitar. At the age of 14 she took part in the international competition WCOPA held in Los Angeles, California, where she was a multi-medallist. She took home the gold medal in the genre of Opera. There, Ms. Yurrita decided Opera was the path for her, so she pursued a higher education in the field.

She earned her Bachelor's degree (Magna cum laude) at the Conservatorio de Música de Puerto Rico under the tutelage of  Prof. Bill Woodruff. Afterwards, she studied with Prof. Rudolf Piernay at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Mannheim, Germany; she continued her studies with Prof. Timothy Sharp in the same institution, where she completed two Master Degrees, one focused on Lied and Concert Repertoire and the second one focused in Opera.

After completing her studies, she has continued her vocal development with Douglas Yates and Dale Fundling.

She has taken part in master classes and festivals like the Savannah Voice Festival and IIVA amongst others, in Russia, the USA and many european countries. There she has worked with operatic personalities such as Sherrill Milnes, Trish McCaffrey, Joan Dorneman and many more.

The soprano was awarded the Societa Dante Alighieri de Guatemala's Young Opera Promise Recognition at age 15. She has also received scholarships and awards from organizations such as: the Daisy Ruiz de Marrero Foundation (MET auditions district of PR), the Bel Canto Award from the Dr. Rabelo Association (PR), the Yehudi Menuhin Association: Live Music Now (Germany), and 360° of Opera (USA).

Most recently, she was a scholarship awardee fo the program Vincerò Academy, where she studied the roles of Micaëla in Bizet's Carmen, Adina in Donizetti's L'Elisir d'amore and Susanna in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro mentored by today's leading opera figures.

Additionally, Ms. Yurrita's opera repertoire includes:  Mimi in Puccini's La Bohème with the Junge Oper Schloss WeikersheimDespina in W. A. Mozart's Così fan tutte, Musetta in G. Puccini's La Bohème, Suor Genoveffa and Sorella Conversa  in G. Puccini's Suor Angelica, Madame Herz in W. A. Mozart's Der Schauspieldirektor and Il Paggio in G. Verdi's Rigoletto.

The soprano is also an accomplished concert singer, having performed numerous works by Mozart, Telemann, Ristori, Poulenc, Vivaldi, Händel, Pergolesi and Villalobos, with various orchestras such as the Guatemalan National Symphony Orchestra and the Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rhineland-Pfalz, among others.

Furthermore, for two years, she was a featured soloist for the contemporary music ensemble Alea 21 (Ensemble in Residence at CMPR),  which gave her extensive experience in this genre.

Daniela is an avid advocate for Latin-American and Spanish Repertoire and has recently co-founded a duo with the pianist Laetitia Ruccolo to spread this music in European territories.

She has an enormous ease and affinity for languages and speaks Spanish, English, German, Italian and French.
